Colfax bee guy
620 switched to electonic ignition. Timing 5deg out runs fine until warms up pops through carb. Starts running ruff at 55 flat road. Seems like carb but ran smooth before conversion. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
More info needed. Possibly you did or didn't do something simple when converting it. The EI system make considerable more voltage and old wires that were fine with the lower voltage become the weak link and cross fire. Did you use the base pedestal that was on your engine or was there one on the EI dizzy you bought? The EI dizzy will have to be re timed for your engine, they don't just drop in and go. 12 degrees for the L series. You are using the matching EI coil? If using your 620 points coil you must keep and use your ballast resistor. Quote Link to comment
Colfax bee guy
Up graded coil, got rid of resister, milled flange off of distributer shaft. But I did use some of old wiring harness. I'll get ride of that. Quote Link to comment
Colfax bee guy
Ignition was from eBay - hot points . Com Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Easy to test. Temporarily re-fit the old system. Does it run better? Then it is an ignition problem. Still run the same? Then it is a fuel problem. Quote Link to comment
hvyd
Check firing order. I may be mistaken but, I think they're 180 degrees out from points type dizzy. Quote Link to comment
Colfax bee guy
If that was the case would it even start? Quote Link to comment
