Andres131313
My 78' 510 is completely stock. I want to change the original carb and I was looking up webers that would work. i was looking at the 32/36 and the 38 outlaw. Anyone have any opinions on what is good for hp? I don't want to look stupid, im new to japanese cars and I was wondering if any holly carbs would work. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The 38 is better for peak HP. The 32/36 better for daily driving. The 32/36 is smaller than the stock L20B carb although it is jetted for smoothness while the stock carb is jetted lean. Quote Link to comment
LenRobertson
In Post #12 here: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/61437-hitachi-dch340-carburetors-all-physically-interchangeable/?do=findComment&comment=1110815 is a link to a two part article on carbs. I don't think he says much about the 38/38 though. I've always read those are great for performance but use a lot more gas than the 32/36. Someday I'm going to get a 38/38 and find out for myself. datsunaholic
If you're in San Jose you may find swapping carbs will cause you to fail the smog check. 32/36s and 38s aren't emissions legal in CA. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
If you are in one of the California counties that require smog testing, I recommend getting a remanufactured stock carb, then jet it for performance. The fuel economy will go down, but no more than a Weber. Quote Link to comment
