Why can't you use the bolts you took out?

Well my mate is autorized mechanic and tells me NOOOT to do it.

So now i really don't know, i thought it would be ok but.

I know 12T is going on middle, but the other bolts is marked 12's so i guess they are same as 13's only lower torque required?

if its a small engine with a mild compression i wouldn't put too much thought into reusing head bolts again. but if they are being torqued a 3rd or 4th time, grab new ones. is it ideal to reuse them, no. do you run a slight risk of the bolts failing, yes. but like i said. a normal L series is not going to make enough power to really put stress on the bolt to failure. just torque to highest factory spec and call it a day. out of all of the stock engine ive done head work on, and reused the bolts, ive never had a problem pertaining to the head bolts.

The center bolt #11057-H5700 is common to all A13/14/15 heads and allows oil up from the block and so is narrower.

The other A13/14/15 head bolts #11056-H2301 are the same and also used on the Z20 and Z22 engines in the 200sx, A10 and the 720 truck.
