datzenmike
The gauge has a normal or run range, where is the needle in this range? Was it doing this before the thermostat change? If no, change the thermostat. Check clutch fan with motor off. Spin blade with finger. Does it spin freely or is it stiff to turn? Is the fan shroud still on the car? Shine a flashlight through the fins on the rad while watching from the front. Are they blocked with dirt, bugs or debris? Quote Link to comment
ericsb210
I agree with Mike on the thermostat change. I have been handed to hot of a thermostat in the past at the parts store. I always check my thermostat markings and make sure the new one matches. Happens way to often and leads to all kinds of big problems. Quote Link to comment
South califas
I actually put the original back on and it still going further than normal it always stayed at a 1/4 now its reaching 1/4 above middle Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
1/4 above the middle is in the normal range per the 210 owners manual. Quote Link to comment
South califas
Oh and it actually started doing this after the Carb swap????:( Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
1. EGR lowers engine temps. 2. Flush can loosen scale in the engine and partially block the radiator. I would check the flow of the radiator again. 3. Don't worry about it if its not overheating Quote Link to comment
ericsb210
I remember as a kid in La Cresta it could sickening hot. El Cajon if I remember right is hotter yet. Your needle moving up in these spring temps, I can understand you being nervous. Quote Link to comment
ericsb210
Don't take this question wrong. I have done this exact thing myself. Did you by chance put the thermostat back in facing the wrong direction? Quote Link to comment
South califas
It went in right way i think might be running rich since I just swapted the oem Carb and installed 3236 Weber may by cat clogged no Buenos ima check Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Running rich will cool the engine. Quote Link to comment

South califas
I'm bummed its running at 178°f so its cooled but now its blowing black smoke I feel like wrong jets were probably put in air adjustment screw don't do nothing is there a chart or a Weber jets setting for this 1.5 engine out there Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
How did you get it to run cooler? Have you tried the idle mixture screw? It will run fine without black smoke with the stock 32/36 jetting. Quote Link to comment
South califas
Do u know the stock propper jetting is for this is there anything else I need to pull off the intake all Itook off was egr valve catyletic converter still on the idle screw don do a thing I eveneven turn it all the way in and it don't even shots off Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
OK the idle screw doesn't do anything. What about the mixture screw? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Here is baseline jetting for Weber 32/36. Runs good on A15, Main jets: 140/140 Air correction jets: 170/160 Emulsion tubes: F50 Idle jets: 60/50 Pump jet: 50 but may run best with larger main+larger air or with smaller main+smaller air. Fuel economy will be best when jetted lean, but needs a stable air temp using a stock-type air cleaner can get almost as good mileage as the original hitachi Quote Link to comment
South califas
I got her done. The catalytic converter was no good it was clogged explains the heating and back pressure to the engine ,the black smoke Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The out of tune Weber poisoned the cat. Converters need 14.7air/fuel ratio. Quote Link to comment
