rbastedo
I want to refresh this motor, just new rings / bearings / gaskets. I can order from rockauto - any brands I should avoid or brands I should buy? The motor has been burning more and more oil, then it started making a bad noise (sounds like maybe valves) and losing power. I will take the head to a shop and get it reworked and while it's out replace rings & bearings. Also, anyone know a decent shop in the Seattle area that will fix up my cylinder head nicely and not gouge too much? Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Check the cylinder bore for diameter and scratches [bad rings will do that]. You might have to bore out to the next oversize which would then require oversize pistons as well. Quote Link to comment
rbastedo
I should get it pulled apart this weekend, I'll measure everything. It really was about time, I've been using and abusing this old engine for many years. Quote Link to comment
