datto720
I have a 1986 datsun 720 2wd, and i am looking at swapping the L18 4-cyl for a L20A 6-cyl. just wondering how hard this would be? any modification to the engine bay/engine mount points required? also are the starter & alternator interchangeable? any other info regarding this would be helpful thanks Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, mods required Moderately difficult swap Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Starter and alt will swap. Oil pan will need modding. You have two extra cylinders so either the rad goes in the tray or you have to cut out the fire wall and loose your heater. The 6 cylinder is a heavy brick for 10-20 hp gain. I wouldn't even consider a 280zx swap. There are way easier 4 cylinder swaps out there with way more power for less weight 1 Quote Link to comment
