NorCalDime Posted August 26, 2008 Report Share Posted August 26, 2008 my speedo was not hooked up when i bought the car. Went under there today before work and hooked it up. The angle right were it comes out of the tranny was pretty tight but i tried it. The thing goes nuts, makes noise and goes really fast back and forth lol. Do i need to reroute the speedo cable? i have a 280zx 5 speed, any special tricks. it seems like i would have to notch the floor because there isnt much room from were the speedo gear hooks in to were it needs to turn to go ot the firewall Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted August 26, 2008 Report Share Posted August 26, 2008 You probably have the stock speedo for the shorter F4W63 4spd. It was meant for a shorter tailstock and to be on the driver's side. Get one for a 280 Z or a '77 or older truck, both had the longer 5spd like you have. NAPA has them for under $25.
