inzel
I was searching around the junkyard yesterday and came across this motor sitting in the back of a pickup truck. It looks like a KA24 motor but wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Worth picking up? Im hopefully picking up another 720 today that is in really good condition. Maybe its worth throwing this one on the engine stand and building it, then throwing it in one of my 720s? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes, KA24E from an '89-'91?13 240sx. You will need the wiring, ECU, high pressure fuel pump, injectors fuel rail, CAS. (and probably more. Maybe an earlier distributor and the intake from a D21? Make an adapror plate and run a weber carb Quote Link to comment
inzel
Thank you for the info. I dont know if the wiring is there so that might be a problem. I will see what is avail tho. Thanks again Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Give it a compression test. It may not need rebuilding. Quote Link to comment
DaveZilla
Definitely worth picking up... You will want all the stuff that goes with it tho if you want to keep it fuel injected, or you could Megasquirt it, it would be cheaper tho to get the ECU and wiring harness for it from the junkyard, but if you Megasquirt it, you would have absolute control over your fuel and timing curves, and you could run a regular dizzy or a set of coil packs. Running a compresion check would be a good idea since these engines are pretty tough, it may just need to be cleaned up and bolted right in as long as it has good compression. It's always best to rebuild, but if on a budget, you could probably drive it for years before it actually needs to be rebuilt. Quote Link to comment
