EricJB Posted January 4, 2014 Report Share Posted January 4, 2014 I'm pretty sure the L24 is an iron block... and with that massive engine bay you're not hurting the weight distribution. Going from a straight 6 to a V8, you're already moving weight back. Mine was an auto w/ ac, and big heavy bumpers. With the bumpers gone and an alum radiator, It is not a big gain. Plus the harmonic ballancer is directly over the steering rack. Set back AFAP. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted January 4, 2014 Report Share Posted January 4, 2014 I don't know what it weighs... At 50% larger than a L20B that just over 400 pounds sans transmission. Very rough estimate. The 260 didn't have power steering and any added weight on the front isn't good is all. I know the engine bay looks empty with a V8 in there. Quote Link to comment
72240z Posted January 4, 2014 Report Share Posted January 4, 2014 The Alum LSx's are actually lighter then the stock L24... Iron depends on the casting, there are some shockingly light iron block v8's out there. Not lighter then an l24 but comperable. Quote Link to comment
