micky
hi bros, i'm completely new to this forum and to the datsun world. i was wondering how hard would it be to swap a L16-L18 out of a bleubird into a 1990 720 pickup. are the trannys interchangable costume fab engine mounts needed?? (swap guide)??? Any info would be apreciated Quote Link to comment
ProjectFeint
Safe to assume you mean 1980 720? If so you shouldn't have any issues with the swap since everything bolts right in using your existing engine mounts just swap over your existing oil pan and pick up tube. We need more details :) L series into a 720 is cake Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You're near Venezuela? That depends, did you get an L series motor in the 720s? Thought they were J18s or something? Need more info on this. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Thought I did.... The J13 powered 521 did not share the later L16 powered 521 mounting location si I would assume the later 720s are the same. You would have to cut off the J18 mount location or at least add something for the L18 to mount to on the frame. Transmissions are not interchangeable, but assuming they are both F4W63s, much of the internal parts will be. The engine bolt patterns are much different. Quote Link to comment
