camshaft question for a87 head

i have an a87 head on an l16 block, its an a87 peanut head, i want a mild cam (for the sound mainly)

 

what should i look for and where, and how much do they go for and is it worth it?

can someone tell me something about a regrind #071 camshaft?

Hi D4L,

Because of the combo you are dealing with.......L16 and A87 CC head.....ANY cam that will give you that rumpy rump sound is going to adversely affect any low end torque that little '16 may have been able to muster :(.  Because your head (even being closed chamber) has lowered the compression already,  any performance grind will actually reduce pumping even further UNTIL the engine starts breathing a bit at high rpm. Around town though fugetaboutit.

I have the exact same combo in my wagon but with a little stock L16 cam (210) and it's decent all around....but by no means able to support a cam change beyond the stock L20B stick WITHOUT a compression increase.

okay, thanks for the info, i finally started my engine after 7 month and love the sound, i have a u20 cam in it, so scratch the cam idea

this is the cam in my l20b  Erson 280/480  10* LC  4/03- date?

 

 

 

this cam seems to have all around power

 

not sure where you can find it tho

 

and i believe its a bit bigger than stock
