Hello all. I recently got a 1979 280zx. I picked it up on Saturday, I jump started the car and let it run for an glue before driving. I drove for an hour home with lights on had no issues. When I got the car home turned it off I tried to start it again, it would not start. The next day I replaced the battery and cleaned the terminals, when tried to start it the starter clicked then nothing. I testing the starter via bypass and the starter will turn over engine but will not start.

Can anyone help?

.....and the starter will turn over engine but will not start.

Can I assume the key was in the ON position?

Find the fusible links. I'm not that familiar with the S130 electrical parts locations but they do have problems with them. Usually the ignition switch is fed from a fusible link. They can burn up yet have intermittent contact. Low voltage on the START signal can cause the solenoid to click and not work properly even though the starter will turn the motor over if you go around it.
