Sealik
Anyone know the proper installation sequence on the 510 tension rod bushings/washers? My bushings were pretty much toast for reference....but...I think they are supposed to be installed with the flat face of the bushing towards the frame????? As setup below The washer placement......? Washers cupping the bushing...bottom of pic Or.....the cupped washers facing away from the bushings?...top of pic This pic I have doesn't really help much......neither the DQ articles I'm leaning towards the cup(s) away from the bushing....just because one washer is 'fused' to the rod...lol But who knows...could of been incorrectly re-installed years ago. Fused washer on left....bushing on right will be 'rotated' Quote Link to comment
graveltrapp
I am thinking round/conical side towards the bushing. That will give it maximum ability to not bind as it moves through its travel range and stress an already highly stressed part of our cars. The hard aluminum and delrin kits are cupped to allow for this same motion. This one show a blown out stock setup with the dish side out. Quote Link to comment
Guest 510kamikazifreak
Would the spacer not dictate the placement? Quote Link to comment
graveltrapp
You can also increase your castor by trimming or eliminating the rearmost bushing. Look around if curious. Quote Link to comment
Sealik
I just went down to Merlins place and had a look at one of his stock 510s....all washers.....<...dish side out. Top arrangement in pic Also located some pipe to replace the rusted sleeves. Good to go....sort of Quote Link to comment
Sealik
Cut the old sleeve and washer away.... Bought 2 short lengths of threaded pipe....perfect fit after trimming up. Quote Link to comment
