the truck is a 1979 620 long bed.

has motor, and brake issues.

addressing motor issues here

right now problems  i see and things i have done to try and change how it runs.

i have put new plug wires, rotor, cap, plugs on .need to do the spark plugs but when i inpected each plug looked fairly normal till i got to the cylinder nearest firewall, that plug was seroiouly correded wit what looked like black caked on oil, assume is oil foulded, wonder what is best prodcedure to diagnos why there is excessive oil in just the one cylinder ? that one cylinder is reason i have not chanaged the plugs out.

the other issue is rough running motor does not to seem have the same power as the 74 620 i have, would think there would be a difference if the l20b was running closer to right.

Get it running. The plug may burn the oil off and run clean ... or just change it for a new one and check it now and then to see if it is getting dirty... go from there. Could be a bad plug wire and the plug just fouled. Could be a bad intake valve seal letting in too much oil. Could be lots of things.

well changed plugs out with properly gapped plugs. took timing light checked each wire for spark, timing light flashed on all.

need to look in fsm and see what the timing should be set to.
