Engy
The belt to my alternator/fan snapped today on the highway. I can't drive it like this(obviously) so I need to replace it. What kind/size belt will fit that I can get at an autoparts store? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes, take the old one and they can measure it or reference the number on it if legible. Spend in the $10 or more range... yes there are cheaper ones but you want to replace them in the winter, in the dark and rain as little as possible,. Quote Link to comment

Engy
Went to the parts store and got a belt. But apparently I lost a huge chunk out of the belt I had left so when I got back and went to replace it, it wouldn't even get close to the alternator which was as close to the engine as possible. If that isn't normal then I need to get the right size belt so does anyone have the right size for the belt? I also had the store look it up but nothing came up for Datsun 710 apparently. I have a 3/8" by 34-1/8" belt. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
#11720-E3005 Nissan part number. 915mm long (36" in American) for length. This is for the L18 and the very early L20B motor. 1 Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
Chances are the parts store just gave you the wrong one. Tell them you need one that is apx. 36'' long. Any good parts employee will figure out what that is within about 2 minuets or less. (At the very worst) Quote Link to comment
