ElephantPrint Posted January 31, 2013 Author Report Share Posted January 31, 2013 when i start it up it will only stay running if i pull the trottle to keep the RPM high and if i let it go engine shuts off. Im thinkin it might be the idle jet because i cant adjust the screw, if i screw it out to the left it dies. Just thinking about it i never installed a new fuel filter. I would take the old fuel filter and replace and and cut it open to give you a idea if it was it. Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz) Posted February 1, 2013 Report Share Posted February 1, 2013 idle jet holder is on the side. Brass sbrew ,remove this and pull the jet out and see if you can see all the holes. You can spray carb cleaner in there also but the jet is the most likely suspect if its dirty. or carb adapter could have a crack Quote Link to comment
dr.feltersnatch Posted February 1, 2013 Report Share Posted February 1, 2013 before you go ripping the carb apart check for vacuum leaks. its easy and cheap. start it up and take your can of carb cleaner and spray it around the base of your carb, slowly. listen for changes. check all hose connections and mating surfaces. anywhere there could potentially be a leak. now if you dont find one and you move to the next step you will have a cleaner carb to take apart. it only takes a tiny speck to clog a jet so cleanliness is key. if you do find a leak fix it and repeat until no more are found. then move on to tuning the carb. ElephantPrint Posted February 2, 2013 Author Report Share Posted February 2, 2013 i checked for vacuum leaks with the carb cleaner, didnt find any changes. I then moved on the the next step like you said DR. and removed the screw for the idle and sprayed car cleaner, put it back on and started running good. Thanks everyone for your help!
