mantas
Ladies and gents the only thing im missing from the equation is the alternator plug wiring for the ka. Where do the alternator wires go? I figured out the white wire on the ka goes to the charge light. So i wired that to the ignition then with a 7.5amp fuse back to the cluster light. Where does the yellow wire go to? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
There are two alternator wires: L and S. L goes to the stock 620 wiring harness: * before 1978: Lamp wire of voltage regulator connector * 1978-1979: T-connector stem (which goes to dash CHG Lamp) S terminal can simply be connected to the A/BAT terminal of the alternator. Or to an IGN switch source but that is unnecessary wiring. Quote Link to comment

I'd like to believe somehow this wire plays some significance in......idk what LOL. But if i leave it unconnected will this pose any issues? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
> what in the name do i do with the S? Yes, this wire needs to be connected or it won't charge. Easy: Connect the S terminal to the A/BAT terminal of the alternator using a short piece of wire. Quote Link to comment
mantas
HAHA what is A/BAT terminal? Are you speaking about the + terminal on the alternator? Quote Link to comment
mantas
Thank you sir, ill go ahead and do that. Quote Link to comment
mantas
I just hooked it up to the + on the bat sice the wire was already there. Car off i get 12.5v car on 14.0v headlight on car on 13.5v. Very nice! Thank you for the help. By car i mean truck lol. 1 Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Er.... Um... Hate to dig up an old thread, but this is the last part of wiring my KA24DE into my '79 510 I'm not sure how to wire in the Alternator. As I'm looking at the '79 510 wiring diagram (found here: http://www.datsunforum.com/Datsun_Wiring_Diagrams/Datsun%20510/Datsun_510_Wiring_Diagram_1979.pdf ) I see on the 'Alternator Regulator' component there are 4 terminals... E, B, S, and L. E = ground to chassis B = Bat(+) S = Bat(+) L = Bat(+) How can B, S, and L all connect to the Battery? The don't directly go to bat+ but, if you look at what they're spliced into the go directly to bat+ Am I misreading this? Quote Link to comment
mhub91
So, going about this a more-simple way..... Looking at this pic of a KA alt. in a 240sx.......... there is a W/R and a W wire..... could I go about it like this? ... Splice my W/R and the R wires from the Datsun into the S13's alt plug, ground the E terminal, and then Hook up the Battery cable...? In theory this should work? I always try to over-complicate things i guess. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The L wire goes to the wiring harness to the dash Lamp B should be connected to the Fusible Link from the battery for fire protection. Don't use a simple fuse. S may be connected to B. Nissan harnesses either connect it to BAT or to IGN. Can be done either way. Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Which wire is to the dash lamp? Thank you! Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The L terminal goes to the dash Lamp. The S terminal is for Sense wire. Connect it to battery pos via fusible link. Regarding the main output wire: For 80A to 100A alternator use a 14 gauge fusible link from your local auto parts store. Use a 12 gauge wire for the ground ('E') wire. These are much larger than the 620 stock wires (good for 50A). 1 Quote Link to comment
