ggzilla
Somebody posted a question, but for an unexplained reason the topic was locked. Datsun from about.1970 started using the very reliable, very strong JATCO automatic. Id be wary of one that has been sitting out of the car .as they can corrode like any transmission. But in the car they last years 1982 models (some) came with.lockup convertor for same highway mpg as a manual. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Maintained they will outlast the rest of the drive train. ATF is good for 100K miles but this is in theory and heat spikes and abuse will shorten this while 30K is good for severe conditions of temperature and driving. Never tow with an automatic (at least get the largest transmission cooler you can afford if you do and change the oil at the end of the season) If you overheat the transmission, change the oil ASAP. Stupid_fast
Run transmission cooler if you plan to go for long drives, or warm weather. I'm sure going up 6% grade mountain passes in my toyota the transmission was very happy with the cooler I put on it... OD off, barely holding 60mph at 60-70% throttle. Quote Link to comment
