oldschool80sguy
Hey all, I am running the 2.4NAPZ and Mikuni 44's on an HKS intake. I am wondering where to properly route all the EGR lines and such when not using the stock intake. I also have a header and not the stock exhaust manifold. I don't want to just block everything off. i believe my block is mid 80's so this may require the use of the stock EGR valve. Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
cant use it unless you put a stock intake back on.. that intake has nowhere to put an EGR valve i wouldnt worry about it. when i did my z24 swap, i just plugged the ERG port on the intake, and blocked off the ports on the exhaust manifold. if you have a way to run a PVC tho, do it. Yes, i noticed there was no where to mount it. unless i put it on firewall or something. but then i would have to drill boss to through my HKS intake. Not gonna happen, LOL. I will run a PVC, thank you. do you think you noticed any performance loss due to plugging all that? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
'Performance loss from plugging all that'.... what?? You do need a PCV valve to vent the crankcase. You also nweed a vacuum advance for te dizzy to improve part throttle performance and mileage. Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
well what it comes down to is with that intake and header, you have effectively eliminated the EGR system. again, if you can hook up the crankcase vacuum, then youll be okay. Quote Link to comment
ssnapz
put it in the garbage Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
the 44s dont have an EGR port either - so there is no control signal. Quote Link to comment
oldschool80sguy
put it in the garbage that is a huge help. opinions are best kept to yourself. its wastes time. unless your a newb and just trying to get your post count up. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Is there a port for vacuum advance? Quote Link to comment
ssnapz
run a vacuum advance to the dizzy, vacuum to the power booster, and the two breathers to the base of the air cleaners and everything else gets pluged off if you have anything left Quote Link to comment
ssnapz
egr is smog only so if your not smogging it you dont want it. my garbage comment was just a shortened way of saying that. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
NAPSZ is the emissions system (Nissan anti-pollution system for z engine). Z24 is a the engine and is a good engine. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
The CA18ET and the CA20E were also NAPS motors. Quote Link to comment

I did consider the CA18ET at one point but wasn't sure what kind performance i could get out of it. air-cooled right? so didn't know its limits, there was one for sale right by my house. ssnapz
i would never put the z24 down. i love mine and you can get power out of them. get rid of the smog crap, stock carb, run a good cam and youll be suprised at the power you get. 1 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The CAs were NAPS-X Z24 is more powerful than stock L20B. No needb to apologize for it. Its a good engine 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The CA18ET was only 130 hp. Not worth the bother. Z24 stock carbs were either too small or flowed poorly (or both) and anyone who has but a 32/36 or a 38/38 have been very happy with the power increase. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes,.because Weber is a good carb, especially compared.to worn, misadjusted carbs. You can tune Hitachi for power too. Quote Link to comment
oldschool80sguy
were off topic but i like it. LOL, i hope that the Mikuni 44's are easy enough to tune on it. the intake and exhaust were port matched to the head so i am not turning back. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Mikunis are.very easy to tune. Start with selecting appropriate venturis. Quote Link to comment
