Double_d
What's the smallest backspacing that I would need to clear struts in the front and rear. Since I know that the offsets will be different for the rear a staggered stance will be necessary if I want to be "flush." With that said, what's the minimum backspacing will i need? specs. Front: Shortened 510 coilovers stock camber with camber plates Rear: Troy's coilovers. Also on stock camber. I don't have stock wheels on my car, so I can't figure this out on my own. Thanks... well i can, but help would be appreciated. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Tristin
You dont need stock wheels to measure backspacing. 1. Take your wheel off. 2. Take a straight edge and hold it so thats flush with your hub face. 3. Measure parallel to the ground from the outside of your strut to the straight edge. 4. That is the backspacing that will just hit your struts... so subtract a few milimeters and thats the maximum that will clear. Repeat above steps but substitute strut for coilover in the rear. ggzilla
Yes. Like this, to get the "back measure". Subtract the clearance figure to get your minimum required backspace. I'd recommend to subtract 4mm but the 2mm mentioned might be all you need. Now if you run stretched tires (tire narrower than rim) that's it. But if you run performance tires, the tire side will be wider than the rim -- in which case the minimum backspace means the tires will rub. Tires need more than a couple mm clearance because rubber flexes. This figure varies for custom springs and strut swaps ... so we can't tell you what the figures are for your car. Double_d
dope... should i do this at full droop while on stands? or should i be lifting the hub up whilst on jack stands? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I don't think it matters. The hub is attached to the strut, so the angle between the two doesn't change whether drooped or jacked. Quote Link to comment

INDY510
I can fit a 15x7 +12 with rolled front fenders and strected tires on 510 struts .... .. my math says that's 4.5" of backspacing ..... you could "maybe" get away with 4.75" ..... but def not 5" ever,, without spacers Quote Link to comment
