Has anyone on here ever modified a step-side bed to fit a 620? (pic request)

I need a step-side bed!

And I'm thinking a Cal-kit bed (or whatever they are called) are too rare/expensive for me to consider.

Plus, I'm interested in using a 55-64(?) GM step-side bed, as the body lines in them would look really snappy with the bullet-side body line.

I'm thinking the tailgate and bed space will need to be narrowed, and then there's issues like mounting the gas tank spout, mounting bolt locations, bed steps needing shortening, etc.

Would love to see pics of step-sides to get me stoked!

I wouldn't think they would be that hard to find in CA. I found mine in Illinois.

it could be done. Like you said,it would have to be narrowed and shortened, the fenders may have to be cut down a little.

The steps would be too big,so you'd have to make new ones.

The bed is flat on the bottom, and mounts with four U-shaped channels that have a flange on each side. These weld to the bed,and they bolt to the stock mounts.

You'll have to make a new mounting bracket for the rear of the gas tank. The 2 front brackets can be welded to the U-shaped channels. That's where I'm at now, waiting for someone to make the rear bracket.
