That's a L20B one, or maybe NAPS-Z. Engines after 1974 or so use that type and ONE mark on the crank pulley, on the oil filter side of the block. Engines BEFORE 1975 use a single arrow, with multiple notches in the crank pulley, on the opposite (exhaust) side of the block. Least, that's how I remember it.

 

Some late-model (late 70s/early 80s) import L16s and L18s use the later type timing marks, but the plate is still on the exhaust side.

 

So, when crank pulleys get swapped from one to the other the marks don't line up at all.

key is knowing what pulley you have on there.

If a l16 pulley it should be pretty much as the photo or vid.

You can see close enough thru the spark plug hole and the cam lobe positions to narrow down in the general area where TDC is and get the pointer or make on.

 

That one you good is for the later L motors. I seen them on the left and right sides of the front cover. So the key is having the correct pully to match it.

 

Most L16 pulleys have the 5 marks
