q-tip
Sounds strange but mothers mag polish will shine it up really well. Quote Link to comment
Nicholas7620
There are many good products. I like Meguiars and others. If you want to get serious read up on this kit. If you have an older vehicle that has lost its luster, try Meguiars to restore paint beauty. This kit includes enough products to detail 1 maybe 2 small vehicles. It's a lot of work. I usually wash and wax. Kit includes: 16 oz. Meguiars Gold Class Wash 25 g. Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Bar 8.5 oz. Meguiars Quik Detailer 10 oz Meguiars Ultimate Compound Meguiars Soft Foam Applicator Pad Meguiars Supreme Shine Microfiber towel 6 oz Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba Plus Meguiars Soft Foam Applicator Pad Meguiars Supreme Shine Microfiber towel It costs $27. http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-paint-restoration-kit.html 1 Quote Link to comment
JAS
Yea, just old paint lost its luster, looking for something to deep condition/protect to bring out the shine better... very slight surface oxidation. want to stop the oxidation process, it washes off, but returns after a month or so.... ggzilla
it washes off, but returns after a month or so Just wax the car, that will stop it from returning. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
Use Mothers or Meguiras 'Cleaner Wax.' Pretty intense stuff. http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotive/products/a1216-cleaner-wax-liquid/ Quote Link to comment
JAS
Will try it, but wanted opinions on what was best for old datsun paint.... someones done this allready, i know it needs a wax job, but what wax worked best... i guess this answers that question, will pick up someof the cleaner wax when i get off work.... the nice machine
I had some paint in the same condition i used the meguiars #2 fine cut cleaner. Just use a moist sponge to rub it in until it starts to break down (the abrasive breaks down and gets finer) then buff it with a cloth. After that you should just wax it with carnauba wax. ggzilla
Any wax works great on Datsun paint. They used acylic enamel like all 1970s paint. Quote Link to comment
Draynor
I used Meguiars ultimate compound followed by Meguiars ultimate polish, and finally Meguiars cleaner wax. I did use a buffer but with some work it can turn out just as good by hand. very good stuff for the price. Here are some before and after pics, Take in mind that I have not finished polishing and waxing in some spots. Quote Link to comment
