ggzilla
That's a common problem. Alternator has four connections: A - to starter cable via fusible link E (case ground) - to engine block bare metal or to NEG battery cable S - To IGN switched wire L - To dash Lamp Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
The owner's manual says to look for the CHG lamp to light up before you start the engine. Because it won't charge if the Lamp is not working. The Lamp wire is the Yellow wire in the original 510 underhood harness that plugged into the voltage regulator. Unplug the regulator, the connect a wire from the L-terminal to the Yellow wire. For the S-terminal, you can simply run a wire straight to the A terminal. It does not need to be switched IGN, just needs to be 12V. Quote Link to comment
