pcruz620
Hi guys. I'm new here and this is my first post. My question is regarding the smog pump. putting in an l28 onto my 260z. I'm planning to remove my a/c but my smog pump is connected. Can I remove that smog pump? If I can, what are the procedures and what needs to be plugged off? Do I need to keep the EGR or just get a block plate? Let me know what you guys think. I appreciate it. Quote Link to comment
crackerjack69
Wonder if you'll pass Cali emmisions w/o your smog gear? Do you have to still smog a '74 down there? Quote Link to comment
pcruz620
No worries, I don't have to smog mine. Quote Link to comment
Busta Nut
Ya can remove it. Rip everything out. Plug off whatever goes to the engine or intake. You can leave the EGR in or remove it if you have a block off plate. It only opens when vacuum is applied. Remove the vacuum hose and plug it off at the intake if you're gonna leave the EGR in. pcruz620
Hey, thanks bro. I appreciate it. So I can just plug up that hose from the smog pump into the block also and it wouldn't affect anything? Quote Link to comment
DanielC
The pipe pictured from the block is for the Positive Crankcase Ventilation system. It does only good things, and costs you no power loss. Leave it hooked up. Quote Link to comment
Busta Nut
Daniel's right. Just PCV. If there's a port on your intake, you can get a PCV valve and hook it there. Otherwise just leave it open or put a filter on it. Quote Link to comment
