DaveyDaveDaveDave
Right now my truck idles at about 1800rpm so I dont have to three petal it to drive. Great on short trips, not too worried about gas. But after a hiway run and full temp, itll idle high and then start dropping off, eventually sputter and die. then I have to crank the shit out of it to get it to start again. I dont have much carb experience (always thrown on whatever weber I could and made do) but I want this thing to purr. And under 1000 rpm. Im throwing in a rebuild kit when I get a chance, but is there anything I can do in the meantime, or anything that comes to mind I should look for when I do the rebuild? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
always thrown on whatever weber I could and made do)???????????????? so is there a weber or stock carb on there now. stock carbs have the idle cuff off circut makse sure your timmed correct and see if the 2nd barrel is fully closed. a stock hitachi uses vacuum so just make sure the 2nd barrel isnt jamming up and not closeing. If not closeing then it will act like its running higher. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
most webers dont need a rebuild. they just leaky crank the shit out could be a choke still on or a flaot issue letting to much gas in. usoing a stock pump? Quote Link to comment
DaveyDaveDaveDave
Stock pump and carb. I was just saying I dont have any experience with a stock carb, as I always had a weber before. Going for a drive in a little bit, will check the timing and the choke, make sure its closing. I think Ive checked the choke before, but a 2nd check couldnt hurt. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
make sure chokeplate is open after its warmed up. If it stays closed to long it will be rich and load up If anything else was added recently please let us know. Coil change??different ignition? Quote Link to comment
