BillM
I just put a transmission in my '80 210 which only has the switch for the backup lights, no place for the other switch. What is that second switch for and if I don't have it is it better to leave the wires disconnected or hook them together permanantly? BillM Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The stock 4 speeds had a neutral and a 4th gear switch. The five speed had neutral and top gear (5th) switches, both were emissions related. Too complicated to track down. If you have problems with running try connecting them, sorry. Quote Link to comment
BillM
OK- Thanks. I put a toggle switch on the wires and I can turn it on or off and see what happens. Bill Quote Link to comment
BillM
OK- I just drove from Seattle to San Diego. I had the switch turned "on" almost all of the way (leads connected) and it ran fine. Occasionally I would turn the switch off to see if I could tell any difference but I couldn't so it seems like it is safe to leave the leads connected. Bill Quote Link to comment
