VintageRice
I don't have flywheel bolts. Was wondering if they are special or can I just get the right size in grade 8 from the hardware store?? If so what thread and pitch and size are they. Thanks a bunch! Quote Link to comment

VintageRice
Googling I found m12 x 1.25 They're 22m long with 14mm of thread and 8mm un-threaded. Can anyone confirm? Is it safe to get top grade bolts or do I have to go OEM? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Can't go wrong with the Nissan ones but about $5 ea. Don't want then breaking off. Reminds me of my old 521. I got an L20B for it but set it outside for a few months and the crank bolt holes got rusty. I just threw it in and 6 months later I was driving along and the engine revved and it wouldn't accelerate. I shut it off and when I tried to start it, it sounded normal but the engine wouldn't turn. I put it in gear and used the starter motor to move it off the road to a side street. I had the first 4 speed electric powered 521 in Ontario. The bolts had tightened up on the rust and hadn't gone deep enough to grip the flywheel properly and one by one over the next 6 months they sheared off. I hand drilled them out oversize, tapped and used grade 8 bolts. Quote Link to comment
