I'm new to the forum just got my first 620 my dad used to drive one and I loved it.

Here's my current issue, it's got the L18 in it engine is in ok shape someone ran it low on oil for to long but no damage to the block or head that I could find. Crank seemed ok also, was running for about 3weeks after i got it. Started knocking so I went to do the bearings on the piston rods found cylinder one had complete chewed the bearing out which explained the knock but no scoring on the crank I figured bad bearing maybe since there was no scoring or the heat from daily driving had damaged the already overtaxed bearing, so I threw in a full set of bearings and fired it up didn't knock for about 15min then the knock started up again. Shut it down pulled the pan and low and behold no bearing again. Other 3 seem fine just like before when I threw the new set in. The 1st cylinder has compression so I'm thinking it's the actual rod and not the piston or crankshaft since there's no scoring, I got a new piston rod coming next week and am hoping that will fix the problem.

I'm a reasonable home mechanic but this is starting to hit the outside of what I've got experience with could use any input on this one.

Thanks to anyone that contributes and having a blast with it half the fun is fixing it myself :)
