backyardmotorsports
Hey guys...I am new here so please understand...one hell of a forum though. I appreciate all the info I have already gotten. Now, onto my question...I just bought a 69 521 that has a l18 in it already. The engine seems to sit slanted back quite a bit. Is this normal, or does the truck have the wrong mounts in it? 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Pics would help. There is a bit of a lean to the L's as it is. Maybe see if the mounts are slotted? Welcome to Ratsun. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
Did the truck originally have the J13 engine in it? There should be a plate with information on your truck. This is a picture of the engine bay. The black and silver tag, centered on the cowl, just above the hood brace mount has the engine information on it. If this tag is missing, on the drivers side door jam, is a tag, with a build date. The build date, and serial number off that tag should help us identify if your truck had a J13 or an L16 engine when it left the factory. The picture also shows a L-18 in a 521. This truck did originally have a L16 engine in it. This truck also has a long shaft five speed, but I think the engine sits pretty close to the original location, and height. Quote Link to comment
backyardmotorsports
Yes, the truck did come factory with a J13, just wasn't sure if the motor mounts are something I should check into, but the picture that wad posted helps. That is how mine sits to...as far as pics of mine go, I will post as soon as I can, but i now own the truck on drfixit's profile. Quote Link to comment
