Posting Pictures

I was trying to post a picture of my 521 taken at the lowest resolution on my camera 640 X 480. The system said my file was too big even though the system said it would scale the picture. What am I doing wrong?

Is it a JPG file? If not, 640x480 is about 1MB in size. In JPG file, 640x480 is about 35kb (0.035 MB). Look at the file size on your PC.

 

Auto-resizing doesn't seem to actually work on many forum sites.

No, but you can resize the picture in Photoshop or Paint

in paint you can resize it by going to Image>Resize/Skew, Then where it says resize enter a number for a percentage if the image is 640x480 and you want to set the picture as your avatar, set each number as 75 if my math is correct and try uploading again.

If your doing it for your photo add 10%, should be close enough. It doesn't have to be exact as the forum should resize it on it's own

The Ratsun profile avatar page says:

 

Your avatar must be no bigger than 160 pixels by 160 pixels in size.

Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 75 KB.

The following file types are allowed: gif,jpg,jpeg,png

 

It says if the pixels are too many, it will resize it.

But if the file size is too large, it won't.

re-size in photobucket..then send back to my pictures..then load it from there

 

Sometimes loading picture off " my pictures " is easier for auto re-sizer to work..For me any ways.

Avatar is max 160 px. So for 640-wide image, set the Stretch to 25% to get 160-wide.

 

 

Windows Paint can do this easily. On the Image menu, click Stretch, and set both Stretch the same (width and height) to avoid distortion.
