Gas tank fumes/vapors lines

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've been having an issue since some time ago, but this time I filled gas yesterday and its get empty very fast, besides im speeding most of the time. The thing I saw was that it was smelling gas more than normal and when i removed the back seat, there was a fumes/vapors hose line that was spitting gas, in a considerable ammount.

So basically, my question is, those hoses are supposed to be in a closed circuit or it has to have an open end like mine?

There is a vent line to a valve mounted on the driver's fender and from there to the PCV system. The rest is closed with a vented gas cap to let air in as the tank emptied. Some had a return line from the carb.

Check all hoses fror cracking/rot/loose clamps.

whoa! have never seen something like that before. As this is a 69, aboove the tank has a lot of turns and stuff, but have never seen a line going back to the SU's, I really dont know if that has to do something that makes it different, either way I have to check it. Thanks Mike!
