Ira210
Howdy everybody I was just wondering if this stuff was for emision control? Is it ok to cap the hose coming out of the thermostat housing? Can I remove that stuff without negative consequences including that thing with the pully next to the tensioner pully? Thanks for the help :D Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Find the hose on the thermostat that goes back to the carb... plug that one and the EGR is deactivated. You should know that the EGR does not work at idle, full throttle or if the engine is not warmed up. If you think you will be finding some missing horse power, ... you won't. But you will be making more pollution. The pump with the pulley doesn't appear to have a belt on it so it's already not working. If it does have a belt (can't tell) just take it off. Again there's no big advantage here. These cars got really great mileage with all this stuff connected. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
Like Mike said, there are literally no gains out of it, however I, like everyone else, love a clean engine bay. It will look a lot cleaner once it's all been removed. Quote Link to comment
Ira210
Was driving today and that tension pully bearing seized which in turn melted and broke belt. Was kinda curious about a couple missing ponies I might find and I do like the idea of a cleaner engine bay.thanks Quote Link to comment
