Jayden71
On my L16 4 spd in the 521 the electrical thing on the side is for backup lights and the other 2 wires are for the second set of points. I do not run a point dizzzy so they just hang there. Quote Link to comment
NWOleman
ok so i don't need to hook them up then unless i want backup lights. cool, thanks. Quote Link to comment
dat521gatherer
I believe the 2nd set of points switch is also the neutral safety switch on the trans.I could be wrong. But thats how 521's are set up. 2nd points pedal switch, carb switch, trans switch are all hooked together if you unhook one, the neutral safety wont work unless you bypass them somehow. Jayden71
What does the nuetral safety switch do on a manual transmission on a 521?? My wires are unhooked and I haven't noticed any difference. 2 of them ran to the ponts dizzy and now they just hang there  Quote Link to comment
DanielC
There is no neutral safety switch on a stock 521. The lowest switch on a stock 521 transmission is the reverse light switch. One of the wires going to it is hot, whenever the key is on. The other two switches on the transmission used to activate the second retarded set of point. This system also uses a throttle switch, a clutch switch, and a part throttle switch on the stock carburetor. If your 521 no longer has the stock distributer, or transmission, or carburetor, this system is not functioning anymore. Quote Link to comment
