HRH Posted May 5, 2011 Report Share Posted May 5, 2011 You are changing your effective ratio when you downsize in tire diameter. So instead of the stock 4.375 ratio, you'd be rocking with let's say a 4.25 ratio. Or something to that effect. Yes, it will give you more power, but your speedometer will also read fast as now the drivetrain is turning faster than original. Don't look for power in tire size. Pick the tire size that suits your application. Going in the mud/off road? High sidewall tires with aggressive tread are a good bet. Racing it at autocross? Wide and short is much better with a street tread. If you just want more power, start by improving the engine's breathing. Quote Link to comment
