racerx Posted April 18, 2011 Report Share Posted April 18, 2011 I have a 1971 Datsun 510 and will be getting the gas tank boiled. I there a good place in South Bay Area, san Jose area. Second, what parts like seals that I need to replace. And what is the going rate to getting gas tank boiled/cleaned. Any tech. assistance would be helpful.. Quote Link to comment
racerx Posted April 21, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 21, 2011 Okay so last night me and my friend took the gas tank out and there was silicon (shaped like snake) sucked in by the pick up tube...so my guess is that whoever owend the car put silicon around the gasket area, where the sending unit goes to, and somehow it got in the tank and pressure sucked it in eventually. Needless to say the gas tank had a brass plating that stated that it was cleaned out in 2000. Also blew some air in the gas line and nothing dirty came out. I'm so glad...now I can drive the Datsun 510, been my daily driver for like 8 years or so. Ted Quote Link to comment
