datzenmike
The box and column are one piece. There is an adjustment for wear slop. Link to comment

jnec510
I tried pushing on the links under the car an they were all stiff. the slop I believe is in the box. I am gonna try adjustin it tonight. Thanks for the advice. I will post if I still need a box or not tonight. Link to comment
datzenmike
The wear will be in the side to side direction. You could raise both wheels and turn each of them side to side watching all the steering linkages for motion that does not transmit all the way to the steering box. Alternatively you can have someone wiggle the steering wheel back and forth through the slack area and see any areas where it does not get out to the wheels. Just remember that any slack in the linkages is multiplied 19 times by the box. Link to comment
jnec510
I'm now failey confident its the box. All the slop is in the wheel not in any of the lower joints. Tried tightening the box and wasn't much help. Still pretty damn scary on the freeway. So can anyone help me out with a 620 steering box? Link to comment
datzenmike
Wheel bearings may be loose, king pins worn and sloppy, worn bushings ... all these can contribute to poor overall steering even though the steering components themselves are good. Don't forget the box and the column are all one piece. Link to comment
jnec510
So with everythin pefectly still I move the wheel side to side 6 inches before anythin moves. I did this with the front end in the air an on the ground while looking at and feeling each joint Link to comment
