77Datsun620
My tach showed up today, just wondering if there are tach wires in my dash, i could have sworn i read a post here that said they should be attached to the harness even though my truck didnt come with a tach from the factory. I havent gotten my haynes manual yet( still waiting on slow ass Ebayer), just would like to know what wires go to what hookup on my tach. Quote Link to comment
laniadude
is it a stock tach or aftermarket?? I don't know about stock tachs but I have a sunpro tach and it hooked straight to the coil for the reading and power wire (ignition) for lights...I dont know about the harness hookup Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I can't find any diagrams for the tach option before '76 and only clock before that. If a '76 or newer the clock OR tach share the same plug. It is taped into the wire harness above the left side opening (usually covered with a plastic block off plate) beside the speedometer. It has 5 wires going to it: Blue: tach signal from EI. Blue/White: +12 at all times (for clock not used) Black: ground Black/Green: +12 ignition on only. Red/Blue: dash lights (on with head lights) Quote Link to comment
77Datsun620
sorry, Its a Auto meter sport comp tach, and its 4 wires to hook up a Signal, 12v ign, ground, and lamp. And thanks again to Datzenmike (who has helped me out a ton) so i guess i hook to the blue, black, black/green, and the red/blue. Quote Link to comment
freaky510
I would run new wires to the coil and for power would trust old wiring.Imo Quote Link to comment
