sfsoccerstud510
Hi, I'm looking to replace my windshield. I already have the new one, but am wondering if I NEED a new gasket as well. One of the auto glass shops I called said that if it's the original gasket on the car already, then I will need a new one because its molded a certain way..? Can I just get my windshield replaced without changing the gasket? I have the metal trim around the windshield as well if that helps. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
New gasket I would say, you run the risk of breaking the old one taking it out. Dont buy the Thailand gasket either, it doesnt last. Quote Link to comment
wade
Where did you find your windshield? What was the cost, and for the gasket? I've got a crack in my new toy, and am looking up here. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
You might add that you are looking for a 620 windshield and gasket. Quote Link to comment
a100addict
the old gasket is a real bitch to work with. i have done several with older gaskets and it is not worth the hassle to save a few bucks. you run the risk of ruining your trim or breaking your windshield Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
If it's anything like my 73 gasket, then it'll be pretty much as hard as plastic and stuck on with some mastic as well = cutting off/out with a razor knife. So, good luck trying to reuse it! Plus, unless you got good pilnkington glass, chances are your new made in china windshield is thinner than OEM.
