Well, that's a relief

I have been noticing the fenders on my goon were held on (inside the hood) by sheet metal screws, and NOT bolts. They had driven screws into it, and the original mounting holes were left vacant. I had feared there was some serious rust under there, and decided to take a peek today.

As I received it:

I was very relieved when I removed the fender and found that it was undercoated and NOT rusted:

The inner fender needs some minor metal repair and some tweaking which I will do when I get into the painting of it, but I was happy to see that the work was going to be minor not not too big of a deal. Someone here removed their fender and discovered the inner panel was mostly gone..

I lightly tacked some nuts on the backside and hit them with high zinc weld-thru primer and buttoned it up for now.

I plan on doing the mechanicals first, then I can start the paint. Did I say I am relieved? :D
