wtb weber carb for 1980 720 L20b pickup

pickup's previous owner put on dgav-33B1 carb 32/36. I'm unsure if this carb is normally

used on my pickup. It was sloppily put on and I am even unsure if bolts for adapter on mainfold

are broken which would hinder putting on maybe the usual carburators used on a 1980 l20b

I think prev owner may have made adapter plate and glued on manifold and jb welded bolts.

to attach the dgav-33B1

I'm a new owner of a datsun pickup. I think carb should be replaced with same carb on it now, otherwise

i'm unsure but maybe replacement manifold needed if bolts to attach carb broken.

thx. im not sure how to contact ratsun datsun owners in seattle area. You mean show them pickup and carb peoblem? i live in fremont, seattle. Not sure how to find them There is a dgav for sale for $200 on craigslist that is described well. If my broken carb is also dgav then maybe I buy it. A stupid thing ive already done was buy a carb off a 620 (automatice even) and found that the carb wouldnt fit the bolts on manifold. Do adapter plates obscure the bolts that are on the manifold? Would the carb off the automatic 620 have even worked? It was suggested that i not take off the adapter(s) currently on manifold (maybe glued, i need better look) or i would not have an even badly running vehicle. Clay

you mean datsun shops that repair datsuns or individuals in seattle sometimes willing (for extra money, etc) to provide advice? Looking at internet i could not find that carbs for automatic 620's were any different from non-automatic carbs, but seller suggested it was, but i was in a hurry and frustrated and bought it anyway. Anyway wont fit adapter and someone (not a professional or anything) suggested the scary idea that original bolts on manifold broken. Perhaps unlikely, i need to check it out better myself. Clay

i bought weber dgav off a toyota 22r. h2theizzo, is this ok u think>? my non-working carb is dgav-33B1. I made assumption that the carb off toyota would be same. you think so? Would jets or other need different adjustment. Perhaps i made another mistake if dgav carbs are actually different depending upomn vehicle/ Clay

Time to stop making assumptions and throwing money at this and figure out what you need.

The Weber only fits the intake if an adapter is used. Get that adapter off of the intake. Find out if the bolts are broken.... very unlikely but if they are they need fixing anyway. It's common for the adapter to come loose so people over tighten and crack them causing a vacuum leak so they slather on silicone or JB weld to seal it up because they simply don't know any better.

Get the adapter off and the manifold cleaned up and the Hitachi will fit.

Webers outperform the stock Hitachi but the Hitachi is slightly better for mileage. Usually the Hitachi is in so bad a shape that when switching to the Weber, the Weber gets way to much credit for better running. Rebuilding or replacing the Hitachi would work as well. To be fair the Hitachi is way way more complicated than the Weber.
