Conan
My '69 521 isn't charging. When i bought it it didn't charge (found a cheat-wire from alt to battery when i ran out of power and started my troubleshooting), so i swapped out the alt and the volt reg, but with no luck. I know my alt is producing power and i find a 13.6v at the regulator thats coming from the alt, but on all the other wires at the reg i find battery voltage or slightly below battery (also a 6v). When i turn the ignition with my old regulator (i resoldered the wires) the IGN and OIL light work like they should With the new one the IGN light flickers while the engine is running So i guess my problem is between the regulator and battery Im thinking something isn't grounded properly or i have a bad connection, but where do i look? and what else could it be? Conan
Fixed by avoiding the problem; slipped a wire with a 25amp fuse from regulator to battery, got sick of not finding my, most probably, bad connection. I now have max 13.7v at battery :) Quote Link to comment
DanielC
http://www.dimequarterly.com/ They have very nice wiring diagrams for 510 sedans. 510 wiring is very similar to 521 wiring, as far as the charging, and engine wiring. In the frame on the left of the webpage, go down to the "technical" section, and click on ""electrical" In the right frame that appears, click "wiring diagrams" go down in the right frame, and you will find a simplified charging wiring diagram. oldskoolvws
I found this to be very useful: http://www.olddatsuns.com/620tech.htm Close to the bottom is the 521 stuff. Quote Link to comment
