If you have the full rectangular glass front then yes there is a paper gasket but it's on the outside of the glass and under the hold down with the 3 screws. I think what you want is to remove the screws and hold down then remove the glass sight level. If you look behind the glass and the carb body there is a rectangular black 'rubber' seal that fits into a groove. It's like a rubber band, but black. Carefully remove it and clean thoroughly. Now clean the groove in the carb body that the seal sits in. I find an old toothbrush is perfect for this. Make sure the groove is clean and carefully assemble. The rubber is what seals the carb to the back of the glass and keeps the gas in.

Before removing the glass put some rags under the front of the carb to collect the gas that will fall out.

Use extra caution when lifting the glass away. Directly behind it is a small brass spacer on the float hinge. Very small and easy to loose it.
