primo74620
The carb on my 74' 620 is leaking fuel from the square plate that has the little glass window. Do I need to get this rebuilt or should I tighten the screws? Where can I find find the gasket that goes there? Quote Link to comment
izzo
Try to tighten the screws and see if that helps, maybe someone on here has a spare pre made gasket for it. IF anything else, stop by your parts store and get some Gasket Paper. You can cut one out to the right shape/size and be good to go. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If you have the full rectangular glass front then yes there is a paper gasket but it's on the outside of the glass and under the hold down with the 3 screws. I think what you want is to remove the screws and hold down then remove the glass sight level. If you look behind the glass and the carb body there is a rectangular black 'rubber' seal that fits into a groove. It's like a rubber band, but black. Carefully remove it and clean thoroughly. Now clean the groove in the carb body that the seal sits in. I find an old toothbrush is perfect for this. Make sure the groove is clean and carefully assemble. The rubber is what seals the carb to the back of the glass and keeps the gas in. Before removing the glass put some rags under the front of the carb to collect the gas that will fall out. Use extra caution when lifting the glass away. Directly behind it is a small brass spacer on the float hinge. Very small and easy to loose it. Quote Link to comment
primo74620
datzenmike' the glass is small and round, but it is in the middle of a rectangluar steel plate. OK then it's a newer style but basically the same You can tighten them a bit more without risk of cracking the glass. Quote Link to comment
