Docsis510 Posted October 3, 2010 Report Share Posted October 3, 2010 Im looking to buy a 510 that was previously stolen and all the wires are just hanging from the dash. I want to test drive the car before I buy it but I dont have a clue which wires to put together to get it started. I dont want to burn the harness. Any help??? Thankss Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted October 3, 2010 Report Share Posted October 3, 2010 Jumper 12 volt to the + side of the coil. Pump the gas twice. Short the two terminals on the starter with a wrench.... chirp, chirp, Varoooom. Quote Link to comment

As long as none of the distributor and coil wires have been messed with it will start and keep running until you remove the jumper wire from the coil. Note this puts a full 12 volts on the coil so don't drive for 150 miles or the points will wear out. Also it might not charge without the ignition switch on... but for taking it for a quick drive it will be fine. Quote Link to comment
