Has anyone else heard this

i was wonderin if anyone can shed some light on this subject. Do i have to run the lame ass intake tube that puts the mass air on the drivers side or can i just shorten the wires and dump it to the right. Ive asked a few people but know one has given a clear answer so far. Someone told me it has to be a certain distance from the t.b. but i wanna get the right answer before i start modifyin stuff

the reason they run the long pipe is because they say you need 12" of strait pipe between the sensor and the intake so the mas reads right. if it is to short it can cause turbulence and not read right.

the setup in the picture skib posted looks fine, but ya i've always heard the same thing that dislexicdime said.. i have a crappy ebay intake on my car right now an i think its causin me to lose some top end..
