85NAPSZ
My family bought this car new, and we've seldom had problems with it. Like, ever. With over 250k miles the only parts we've had to replace are a timing belt and an alternator. Well, lately it's been having a cranking issue - every time we drive it a little harder than usual, such as cruising at 80 down the interstate (the speed limit is 70-75, so don't go off calling me jackass driver), and then park it, it won't crank up. The battery and alternator are both fine, as well as the starter. Any ideas as to what's causing this? Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Won't crank at all? When it happens have you tried turning the ignition to ON and shorting the starter solenoid? Quote Link to comment
85NAPSZ
It has to be jumped off. It's not like an every day thing, it's only when it gets pushed a little harder than usual. And honestly, I have no idea what that is, ha. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
not sure for yours, but worn contacts are about right for your mileage. http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/starter/ I have no idea what that is, ha. its just tired  Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Won't crank at all, then cranks when you jump it? Have you tried simply cleaning the battery terminals/contacts? Quote Link to comment

85NAPSZ
The terminals have been cleaned meticulously numerous times. And yes, won't crank at all unless jumped. When I turn the key to crank it, it won't turn over whatsoever, but I can hear the fans kick in. I think he meant he doesn't know what the starter solenoid is :P Exactly, ha. Quote Link to comment
