79 620 Hood Hinge

Just got my first 620 and the first real issue is to repair the hood hinges. both are rusted and broke.

Rust- sand / grind off, primer then repaint.

Broke- replace. remove cowl & you'll see the 10mm bolts that hold them on.

im sure somebody on the forum will give em to you free, at least i hope so.

The hinges aren't held on by 10mm bolts, they're spot welded to the cab body. Sometimes you can weld them back down, but sometimes they're just too broken.

 

They break off when the hinge itself siezes up. There's a lot to rust under the cowl, so those really need to be checked periodically.
