Duncan
On Saturday, I went to open my hood to check my oil before heading out to MoVal, and I broke the hood release cable right off at the inside handle. Unfortunately, (in this case) my 1200 is RHD, and I determined that a LHD assembly won't flip over. I did pop the hood (by screwdriver) and got the car out to MoVal. As I was checking out the various cars I noticed the hood catch mechanism on the 620 truck is the same as the 1200. I checked out Chris' 620 and the handle is the same, too. On Sunday, I found a 620 pickup at a wrecker and bought the hood release assembly for a whopping $4. Other than an extra 3 inches of cable, the two assemblies are identical and will bolt right into a 1200. The cable attaches at the hood side in exactly the same way as the 1200, so the extra cable length will make no difference at all. I have to swap the handles from the LHD to the RHD mechanism, but the rest of you fellows have a cheap bolt-in option for a quick fix. There's a LOT more 620's around than 1200's, so this info may come in handy for ya. I haven's seen or heard of this interchange before, so I wanted to pass this on. Quote Link to comment
