pharouh
I'm taking the front valance off my truck to repair it. How do you get those large phillips head screws out? I've been using liquid wrench,a heat gun,and a hammer and they still won't break loose. Any suggestions? Thanks Quote Link to comment
sick620
when I did mine i just had to twist em hard with a wrench and cheater pipe. some i broke the heads off of and had to easy out. Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
Heat is a miracle when it comes to getting bolts free. If you're able to get a torch on the female end, then the metal will expand and allow you to get on the bolt/screw with vice-grips and carefully turn them out. Patience is the key here. If you get frustrated and either round off the gripping surface or worse yet, break the bolt off flush, then you're looking at drilling. Quote Link to comment
herculesinwyoming
another thing is take your time, when the bolt gets real hard to turn, go the other direction for a turn or so, you are basicly taking the rust and road grime off, so take your time but on these trucks, a broke bolt will happen, maybe allot of them. pharouh
Thanks guys! Patience is a virtue here. I've been trying to get the 5 bolts on the top of the valance loose too. So far I've snapped two and got one off. The snapped ones didn't really give ant warning either. they were turning and just broke off. I'll keep at it. Quote Link to comment
