jfbrink
Hi, I see a lot of discussion of using the HEI module to replace the "black box" on later ('76+) L-series engines, but will it work on an A14 with a stock electronic distributor that's probably from a 1975 B210? datzenmike
The GM HEI should work with any EI dizzy, remote or matchbox. No reason not to. Quote Link to comment
jfbrink
I'll give it a try and let everyone know. Jesse. Quote Link to comment
jfbrink
I got an HEI ignition module from the junkyard yesterday and wired it up this morning. I combined the Datsun specific instructions on this site: http://dimequarterly.tierranet.com/articles/tech_hei.html With the more general HEI instructions on this site (this confirmed my idea of how to power the HEI and that you need to ground the HEI): http://holdenpaedia.oldholden.com/HEI_Conversion_Wiring_Instructions Okay, so all that said, here is a brief video of the first start-up: Jesse. greybeard
IIRC The ford electronic ignition from the late 70's will also work, and I believe one of the boxes had a feature that either advanced or retatded the timing a few degrees, by closing a set of contacts, so one could wire a switch on the dash to retard the timing when one wanted. The ford boxes are coded by the color of the plastic where the wires enter the box. I'm just going from memory, anybody have better info.? the Ford boxes are not as reliable as the GM mods.
